Dear Family and Friends,

Sorry I am emailing a day late. President is on island so we switched our P-Day.
I guess the first thing to mention about this week is that Sister Saimon and I changed our ring tone to a cat. It works pretty well because if our phone goes off during a lesson people don’t notice… unless they don’t have a cat and they freak out! We have gotten some pretty funny responses. They think there is a stray cat around them or in our bag or something. But we like it!
This week I got Alex and Tiff’s package! That was pretty exciting! All the sisters are so excited to eat some Score Cake this week! Especially Sister Bradford, she asked me this morning if she can make it. No complaints here! Thanks so much for spoiling me Alex and Tiff!
The Brimhalls (senior couple) finished their mission this week. So on Monday they had a family night at the church for them. It was really nice. A lot of people showed up! And afterwards there was food, so that is always a bonus. It is going to be pretty weird to not have a senior couple on island. It is really hard to get senior couples to come to this mission. Almost impossible really.
But because they left we all 4 moved into their apartment so they can re-model ours. We also got their car! So now the other sisters drive the nice Chevy Cruze! They love it. And Sister Saimon and I get the ghetto Toyota Yaris. But we are just grateful to have a car!
There were so many funerals this week! So hard to find and teach people. But everything worked out. It was mostly hard for the other sisters but they are still smiling and worked hard all week!
On Saturday we got to watch the Saturday session of General Conference.. it was so good! I am so happy I finally got to watch it! I attached a picture of one of the Branch President’s because his back was really hurting so he was listening on the floor, it was pretty funny.
On Sunday we were on a typhoon watch or something. One event led to another and church was canceled. Turned out to be a tropical storm and nothing happened but it rained so hard! But President and Sister Zarbock are on island so we did a mini sacrament meeting on Sunday which was pretty cool. They just passed the sacrament to us and then had a couple spiritual thoughts. Then we went out teaching as much as we could. No body wanted us to come because there was either a funeral or it was raining too hard but we got it figured out.
Yesterday at Zone Conference we mostly talked about the Book of Mormon. It was really good! And we finally have more Book of Mormons to hand out again. We run out of Book of Mormons ALL the time! It is so annoying, but we work it out. But it’s not too late for all of us to finish the Book of Mormon before the end of the year!
Love and miss you all!
Have an awesome week,

Sister Stevens

Well back on Yap, it feels really good. I am happy to be back with my people in my place.

The flight on Tuesday night was rough, as usual, but it was pretty tough on Sister Bradford. I am glad that she finally gets to feel my pain, all the sisters thought I was a drama queen because I am always so tired after the Guam trips but now I’m not alone!
We had our meeting on Thursday and it was good to have Sister Bradford help/lead the training. Elder Taylor (Zone Leader) is still alone so it was just us three. The training wasn’t as interesting and fun as some of the past ones have been but it went well and I think it really helped everyone.
After the meeting we went again to Sister Layaan’s classroom to clean the windows again. It was fun, again. It is pretty gross there is all sorts of things growing on those windows. We were also using very humble cleaning supplies.. only a couple rags for washing and drying and pinesol. But whatever gets the job done I guess.
Right now our mission is doing a “40 Day Fast” so someone from the mission is fasting everyday for 40 days. This time we are fasting for having the faith to extend bold baptismal invitations every lesson. We were home most of the day for weekly planning so it wasn’t too bad.
Last week we got a local pumpkin this week so I am going to treat all of the sisters to local pumpkin pie. I am so excited! Finally fall!.. but I’m on an island so it’s still summer!
This week the senior couple, Elder and Sister Brimhall are leaving. So it will be different to not have a senior couple. And in a couple of weeks Elder Herman will go home which is super funny. He has been off of Yap for a while but it is just weird that so many people are going home.
This week we went to the hospital to sing to an old man named Figirmo. He has been a member since the 70’s but wan’t fully active. Sister Saimon and I sang “Abide with Me ‘Tis Even Tide” and “Brightly Beams out Fathers Mercy” same as what you all sang for Grandpa! It was a little rough, I almost cried. But it was good. I am going to really miss Figirmo, he was really nice.
Love and miss you all,
Sister Stevens
